Spector Gadon & Rosen, P.C. Foundation

History and Mission

The Spector Gadon & Rosen Foundation was established in September 2003. Focusing on the arts, the SGRF was a logical outgrowth of the law firm, which has a rich tradition of arts support and involvement.

A nonprofit charitable organization, the Foundation supports the development and appreciation of contemporary and emerging visual and performing arts by awarding grants to organizations in the greater Philadelphia region. Download a grant application by clicking here.

ATTY Award

Periodically, the SGRF names a recipient of the ATTY Award, given for positive depictions of an attorney in a novel, film, play, or TV show. The ATTY Award was inspired by a June 2003 American Film Institute survey, which named attorney Atticus Finch of To Kill a Mockingbird the top hero of cinematic history.

Author Harper Lee accepted “with deep gratitude” the 2005 inaugural ATTY Award. “Since Atticus Finch is an attorney, we felt that his selection as the greatest hero of cinematic history was a significant moment in American cultural history for our profession,” said Paul R. Rosen, president of the SGRF, “and we seized on it as the building block of a tradition. Harper Lee, author of the Pulitzer-Prize-winning novel which became the Academy-Award-winning film, was the perfect choice for the inaugural award.”

Actor Robert Prosky received the ATTY in 2008 for his portrayal of pro bono attorney Hilton Barber in Dead Man Walking.
