Attorney Profiles

Barry S. Brownstein handles cases in the civil litigation area. While at Spector, Gadon & Rosen, P.C., Mr. Brownstein has litigated commercial and employment cases in state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  A recent noteworthy case he tried involved a breach of a restrictive covenant claim against his clients.  A state court jury in New Jersey reached a defense verdict for his clients.

Mr. Brownstein successfully argued in the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey a case involving the liability of sports arena operators. The decision, which made "new law" and was approved for publication, held that operators of skating rinks and sports facilities have a limited duty to protect spectators from risks associated with viewing a hockey game.

Mr. Brownstein brings to the Firm's clients the benefit of more than ten years of legal experience in the areas of products liability, contracts and professional malpractice. He has specific expertise in defending architects and engineers in connection with errors and omissions claims.

Prior to joining Spector Gadon & Rosen, he was an attorney with the Livingston, New Jersey law firm of Morgan, Melhuish, Monaghan, Arvidson, Abrutyn & Lisowski. While at the firm, Mr. Brownstein served on the legal team for the highly publicized One Meridian Plaza fire case.

Mr. Brownstein holds a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law, an M.B.A. from Drexel University and a B.A. in Economics/Business and English from Lafayette College (Easton, PA). During law school, he was invited to serve on the Stratton Advanced Moot Court Board and completed internships with the Honorable Marvin Halbert and the U.S. Attorney's Office. He is admitted to the bars of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.
